Put your heart into shopping

Few realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the
United States. Each year, thousands of engaged individuals across
America wear red on National Wear Red Day in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red campaign to support ongoing research and education about women and heart disease.

  This year, Raleigh’s Cameron
Village and WakeMed have joined in the fight against heart disease in women. February 1st through the 14th they are encouraging the public to turn shopping into cardio exercise by offering what they call “heartfelt gifts” to those shoppers that can afford to spend $250 in one day at select stores and have the receipts to prove it.

Of course, if you prefer to window shop, but still want to love your heart you can pick up a convenient little guide at any

Cameron
Village business that will provide you with a directional map which indicates the distance (number of steps) between stores that will contribute the maximum benefit to your heart’s health.  It takes about 2,000 steps to equal one mile. The recommended number of steps a day that will give you the most bang for your buck are 10,000.  Anyone can join the Go Red movement. Even if you don’t participate in an official Go Red activity your support is important to the Go Red movement., Wear RED on February 1st, and support the cause throughout the month by shopping for Go Red products, taking the Heart CheckUp or getting involved with the movement in your community. Love your heart, your health, your life, and the women you love.

That is cool that Cameron Village is supporting the cause! I wore red on February 1st, but I will have to remember to wear something red throughout the rest of the month!

I love your blog name, I am looking forward to your posts! :)
