Step out for the Triangle’s Art Walks
If you live in the downtown Raleigh you are likely aware of the free cultural arts events hosted the first Friday of each month within the Moore Square Art district. The monthly gallery walk through downtown Raleigh’s Artspace Museum and City Market offers music, food and an appreciation of the arts for all ages. This year’s first event takes place this Friday, April 4th!
Monthly art walks have become popular across the Triangle and each town has a way of adding its character to these year-round events. each spring and last throughout January.
In downtown Hillsborough, local bands play music on the town square for Third Fridays.
Durham’s Culture Crawl also takes place on third Fridays, and is known for it’s mix of art, music, offerings from Manbites Dog Theater, music at Joe & Jo’s and triple-decker Ringside, and restaurants that stay open late.
The Second Friday Art Walk in Chapel Hill/Carrboro is a becoming increasingly popular and often showcase local bands at places like Temple Ball/De La Luz and Caffe Driade.
In nearby, Pittsboro, craft vendors, painters, sculptors, educational exhibits, food vendors and musicians converge in an afternoon street festival during the First Sunday of each month.
So, next time you’re looking for a reason to experience something different, meet new people and promote and celebrate local arts visit one of the Triangle’s art walks.
