Man vs. Food makes a “Pit” stop in downtown Raleigh tonight

Adam Richman, host of The Travel Channel’s show Man v. Food will making challenging himself to a heaping plate of some hog at downtown Raleigh’s The Pit Authentic Barbeque Restaurant tonight.

Richman will chat with local barbecue legend Ed Mitchell to learn to some barbecue techniques, throw a pig on the fire, and chat with the customers.

I’ve met Pit Master, Eddie Mitchell, a few times already. He’s a friendly guy who loves to talk about cookin’ a WHOLE hog. He won’t give you his secret recipe though…He gave my boyfriend and I the grand tour of their “pit” on the 4th of July and I was so intrigued that I did some research and take visitors to The Pit to try some authentic Eastern NC BBQ every chance I get.

Here in N.C. we take our BBQ seriously. You rarely miss the aroma of a “pig-pickin”, during political and elections events, high school football games, weddings, graduations and family reunions. It’s as much of the culture in NC

Now, I’ve watched the show and know that Adam has some experience throwing down BBQ from coast to coast, but is he ready for some NC Barbeque?

Being the foodie that I am I’ll be there challenging myself to a plate (or two…) of authentic North Carolina grub…I may even eat Mr. Richman under the table…I’ve been here long enough to consider myself a Carolina girl and I’ve been known to teach a Yankee or two about eatin’ some BBQ the “smart in the city” way…
